So I am guessing that Guy was the cuckolded party and the divorce was 'scriptural'.

by kneehighmiah ini'm starting to believe the bethel higher ups are trolling us.

I doubt it but if they did they would undoubtedly attain a certain level of schadenfreude as one would when they see an ex go off about them on a social media site years after the breakup.

No more circuit assemblies
by justmeok ini heard from a reliable source that there will be no more 2 day assemblies, but instead 2 one days each year.
anyone heard this yet?
supposed to start new service year.

Assemblies were more social events than real 'instruction' to the masses. I hardly ever paid as much attention as I would at a KH because there were so many distractions and less supervision from people who knew who you were. The speakers always got cross with the attendees whenever they informed us that the program was to begin shortly. People kept on chattering like it didn't matter. Conventions were originally conceived to generate as much attention in the public and press for what was then an obscure movement. They have served their purpose long ago and are hardly needed anymore. In this day and age no media outlet is going to care if the JWs congregate at a sport stadium for 8, 7, or even 2 or 3 days. They became JW social events, and for this reason I think the GB is keen on reducing the days (and by extension, costs) of these gatherings. Herd the sheep in, talk up a huge book release and guilt everyone into donating for it and the costs of the assembly. That should only take a day. The rest is just rubbish and filler.

They'll just punt it to the folks in immigration. He doesn't want to be known as the president who booted Justin Bieber.

Just to clarify, this wasn't meant to seriously compare the Queen to the GB (thus the reason I had posted this in the Jokes and Humour section). She does serve as Supreme Governor of the Anglican Church, but I'll save my criticism for the unlikely event that she commands all Anglicans to shun former members.
It would seem that Harry Hewitt is breathing a huge sigh of relief now that he has a nephew who has moved ahead of him in the line of succession and now would himself be an unlikely future King. Growing the beard was probably a sign of his new-found independence, much like an ex-JW might grown previously forbidden facial hair or have his hair long. Good for him - if he doesn't want the responsibility in the first place, then it's a bit silly to force him into it. Let him join the ranks of the other royals no one has ever heard of and have him cut ribbons on children's hospitals or something.

I was very embarrassed to admit it as a child. JWs have such a poor reputation where I grew up, and to admit you were one was to draw even more questions, particularly about your belief structure and inevitably, about your own mental state of being. I was embarrassed because I knew that I would be looked upon as different and to be excluded from many things because of of my religion (both real and imagined). Being a JW was too much of a burden to place upon a child. I believe that JW children should be brought up in the community as a whole, invited to parties and play games of basketball and football with church teams, but as for the hardcore things like field service and meetings, they were only to join naturally and of their own volition. It was one of the first things I heard that really made me despise Judge Rutherford. Russell had more of a traditional view of kids and their level of involvement with the church while Rutherford felt that children must be dragged along to all these theocratic activities.
As for now, it really is nothing more than a novelty. Once I qualify the fact that I am no longer a JW, there is a noticable ease of feelings and people are genuinely curious about it more than anything.

Ever considered joining the Church of Satan?
by J. Hofer inevery now and then i read up on the church of satan, most of their principles make sense to me, in the end i'm still leaning to a more humanist world view though.
what's your view on the church of satan?
pragmatic nihilism spiced up with a few funny rituals?

Doesn't make any sense, being that the only information about 'Satan" would have to come from the Hebrew and Greek scriptures, and also from the Quranic verses. All three of these sources are decidedly negative about Satan. Do they have any other historical 'source' of information about Satan? It's right up there with a 'Xenu apologist' Scientology sect. There have to be more intelligent ways to f**k with Christians. By admitting there is a Satan they are acknowledging the existence and heavenly position of God and Jesus, angels and demons.
